This report analyzes the effectiveness of the Schoolwide Performance Bonuses Program, which is an effort to improve student performance through school-based financial incentives. The three-year study, which found that the program did little to improve student achievement, examined student test scores; teacher, school staff, and administrator surveys; and interviews with administrators, staff members, program sponsors, and union and district officials.

AQE responds to New York tax code reform agreement

The Alliance for Quality Education says the New York tax code reform agreement is a good first step.

On November 6, Governor Cuomo announced a tax code reform deal - a win for AQE and all those who fought for reform. In far too many states, students are  denied access to the resources that provide a meaningful opportunity to learn.  There is no substitute for opportunity, not in our schools, our workplaces, or our society.  Opportunity is at the heart of our American dream.  Yet many students who need a high-quality preschool go without. Many children are taught by ineffective teachers lacking in baseline qualifications and experience. Too many attend under-performing schools that lack the resources necessary to effectively raise achievement.
