Rally in Albany

Rally in Albany for NY Public Schools

Chanting "We Can't Wait!" and marching through downtown Albany, over 2,000 teachers, advocates, parents and students rallied on March 11th for an increase in state funding for public schools. Despite a 2006 ruling from the state supreme court that held that New York had failed to provide public schools with adequate educational resources under the state constitution, many schools have yet to receive the required level of funding. Arkansas Privatization Bill Withdrawn

Victory in AR

A rally at the Arkansas capitol building turned into an impromptu victory party as education organizers received word that a bill to privatize struggling school districts had been withdrawn from consideration in the legislative session. Read more>

PA Districts Sue State

The Education Law Center of Pennsylvania and the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia filed a suit on behalf of six school districts, two associations and seven parents against the state in an attempt to prove that the government has failed to provide the "thorough and efficient" public educational system promised in the state constitution.
