A new fact sheet from MassBudget shows that had incomes for people at all income levels continued to grow in line with overall income growth from 1979 through 2013, 90 percent of Massachusetts households would have substantially higher incomes today. Data from the U.S. Department of Education paints a picture of vast educational inequalities based on students’ skin color and disability status, with only a few bright spots. Specifically, while student suspension rates appear to have dropped 20 percent since the last time data was collected in 2011-2012, stark racial inequities persist in terms of which students receive this punishment.
