But as Cassie Swerner, senior vice president at The Schott Foundation, points out, "The bans have to happen immediately because of the cost to young people, not only in their immediate lives but in their futures — you can't get that year back." |

Boston City Council votes to oppose charter school ballot measure |

The Boston City Council voted to oppose a November ballot measure that would create or expand charter schools in Massachusetts, citing concerns that it would drain funding from public schools.
